Most people use AI through a website — you go to a chat window, type something, and get a response. Claude Code is different. It runs directly on your computer through the command line (that black screen with text that looks intimidating but really isn't).

The web version of Claude is great for conversations. But Claude Code can actually do things on your computer:

Who Is It For?

MCP servers are how Claude Code connects to external tools. Install the Filesystem server and Claude can read your files. Install Brave Search and it can search the web. Install Google Sheets and it can create and edit spreadsheets.

Is It Hard to Set Up?

It's easier than it sounds. The installation is a single command, and Anthropic provides clear documentation. If you can follow step-by-step instructions, you can set up Claude Code.

That said, if the command line makes you uncomfortable, the web version of Claude is still excellent. Claude Code is an option, not a requirement.
