How to Screen Stocks with AI
Use AI to filter thousands of stocks down to the best opportunities based on your specific criteria.
How to Screen Stocks with AI
There are thousands of publicly traded stocks. You can't research all of them. Stock screening narrows the universe to a manageable list of candidates that match your criteria. AI makes screening faster, smarter, and more flexible.
Traditional Screeners vs. AI Screening
Traditional screeners (like Finviz or TradingView) let you filter by predefined metrics. They're useful but rigid. AI screening is different:
- Natural language — Describe what you want in plain English
- Complex criteria — Combine fundamentals, technicals, and qualitative factors
- Context-aware — AI can factor in current market conditions
- Explanations included — AI tells you why each stock made the list
Fundamental Screens
Value Investing
"Find stocks with a P/E ratio below 15, price-to-book below 2, current ratio above 1.5, and positive earnings growth. Exclude financials and utilities. Sort by dividend yield."Growth Investing
"Screen for companies with revenue growth above 20% YoY, expanding margins, and a PEG ratio below 1.5. Focus on technology and healthcare sectors."GARP (Growth at a Reasonable Price)
"Find stocks that combine growth and value: EPS growth above 15%, P/E below 25, and debt-to-equity below 0.5. Which ones have the best risk/reward?"Technical Screens
"Find stocks making new 52-week highs on volume that's at least 2x the 20-day average. Which ones are breaking out of significant consolidation patterns?"
"Screen for stocks where the 50-day moving average just crossed above the 200-day moving average (golden cross) in the last week."
Combined Screens
This is where AI really shines — combining factors that traditional screeners can't:
"Find companies with strong fundamentals (growing revenue, positive cash flow, low debt) that are also setting up well technically (uptrend, consolidation near highs, increasing volume). In the current market environment, which sectors should I focus on?"
Industry-Specific Screens
"Screen for biotech stocks with upcoming FDA catalysts in the next 90 days, a market cap above $500 million, and at least 12 months of cash runway."
"Find SaaS companies with net revenue retention above 120% and a rule of 40 score above 40."
Building a Watchlist
Once AI gives you screening results, build a focused watchlist:
"From these 20 screening results, narrow it down to the top 5 I should research first. Consider which ones have the most compelling setup right now and explain your ranking."
Screening Schedule
- Weekly: Run your core screens to update your watchlist
- Daily: Quick scan for new breakouts or setups
- Quarterly: After earnings season, re-screen for changed fundamentals
