How to Organize Your Closet with AI
AI tools can help you declutter your wardrobe, plan outfits, and build a closet that actually works for your life.
Your Closet Is Full But You Have Nothing to Wear
We've all been there. Staring at a packed closet, feeling like nothing works. The problem usually isn't that you don't have enough clothes — it's that your closet isn't organized in a way that helps you get dressed.
AI tools can help you sort through what you have, figure out what's missing, and build a system that saves you time every morning.
Step 1: The Inventory
Take everything out. Yes, everything. Then go through each piece and tell Claude:
- What it is (black blazer, blue jeans, floral sundress)
- How often you wear it
- Whether it still fits
- Whether you actually like it
Claude will help you sort everything into four piles:
- Keep: You wear it regularly and it fits well
- Maybe: You're not sure — try it on
- Donate: It doesn't fit, you don't like it, or you haven't worn it in a year
- Toss: It's damaged beyond repair
Step 2: Identify Your Core Wardrobe
Ask Claude to help you figure out your "capsule wardrobe" — the essential pieces that form the backbone of your outfits. These typically include:
- Well-fitting jeans or pants in a neutral color
- A few basic tops (white, black, one color)
- A versatile jacket or blazer
- Comfortable shoes for everyday
- One outfit for dressy occasions
Claude will point out gaps: "You have five graphic tees but no plain white shirt that goes with everything."
Step 3: Plan Your Organization System
Ask Claude to suggest an organization method based on your closet size:
- By category: All pants together, all tops together
- By outfit: Pre-assembled outfits grouped together
- By occasion: Work clothes, casual, dressy, workout
- By color: Light to dark within each category
Use the Notion server to create a digital closet inventory. Log each piece with category, color, season, and a note about what it pairs with.

Step 4: Build Outfit Combinations
This is where AI gets fun. Tell Claude what's in your closet and ask for outfit combinations:
- "Make 5 work outfits from these pieces"
- "What casual weekend outfits can I build with what I have?"
- "I have a wedding next month — can any of these pieces work?"
Claude will show you pairings you never considered. That navy skirt you only wear with one top? It actually goes with three other things in your closet.
Step 5: Smart Shopping
When you do need to buy something, ask Claude what would add the most versatility:
"Based on my wardrobe, what one piece would create the most new outfit combinations?"
Use Brave Search to find that specific item at the best price. No more impulse buying things that sit in your closet with tags still on.
Step 6: Seasonal Rotation
At the start of each season, ask Claude to help you rotate your wardrobe:
- Store heavy winter coats when it's warm
- Bring out lighter fabrics for spring
- Move holiday-specific items to the back
Use Todoist to set seasonal rotation reminders so you're never caught off guard by a sudden cold snap.
The Payoff
A well-organized closet saves you 10-15 minutes every morning. Multiply that by 365 days and you've just gained back nearly 100 hours a year. That's worth a Saturday afternoon of sorting.
Let AI handle the planning. You handle the hangers.
