5 AI Games You Can Play Tonight With Friends

Grab your friends, grab your phone, and let AI host the best game night you've had in months.

No Board Required

You know that feeling when everyone's sitting around and someone says "what do you want to do?" and then you all stare at each other for twenty minutes? Yeah. AI fixes that.

All you need is one person with a phone and an AI app like ChatGPT or Claude. These games work with groups of any size, they take about two seconds to set up, and they're genuinely fun. We've tested them. Multiple times. There may have been snacks involved.

1. AI Pub Quiz

This is the one that always surprises people. Use the 💬Who Said It? prompt for a twist on trivia night, or let your AI host a full pub quiz. It'll give you rounds by category — history, pop culture, science, sports — and keep score for each team.

Split into teams, pick team names (the sillier the better), and let the AI run the show. You can even tell it to adjust the difficulty. "Make round three harder, we've got a history nerd on Team Flamingo."

If you want a more specific flavor, try the 📜History Timeline for historical deep dives, or the Time Traveler Interview for themed rounds where you interview figures from the past.

2. Murder Mystery Night

This one is a whole experience. A murder mystery prompt sets up a crime. Load the NNoir Detective Soul for maximum atmosphere — it, gives you suspects with backstories, and lets your group investigate by asking questions.

One person reads the clues out loud, and everyone debates who did it. It's like Clue, but the AI generates a fresh mystery every time. We once played three rounds back to back because nobody wanted to stop arguing about whether the gardener was lying.

3. Truth or Dare (AI Edition)

A truth-or-dare prompt generates questions and dares that are actually clever — not the boring ones you've heard a thousand times. Plus you can set the vibe: "keep it family-friendly" or "we're all adults, make it interesting."

The AI remembers what everyone has already answered, so it builds on earlier rounds. It gets funnier as the night goes on.

4. Story Chain

This is the creative one, and it gets wild. Start with a collaborative story prompt. The AI writes the opening paragraph of a story, then each person takes turns adding to it. After each addition, the AI continues the story in a new direction.

The best part? Use the CChaos Goblin soul and the story will go completely off the rails. We ended up with a detective octopus solving crimes on Mars. It was beautiful.

For something more atmospheric, try pairing Story Chain with the NNoir Detective soul. Suddenly everyone's talking in dramatic monologues.

5. Hot Takes Debate

A hot takes debate prompt gives your group a controversial (but lighthearted) opinion and you have to argue for or against it. Things like "cereal is a soup" or "the best pizza topping is pineapple."

The AI judges the arguments and picks a winner each round. It's surprisingly fair, and surprisingly savage.

Setting the Mood

Want to make game night even better? Load up the DDisco DJ soul and let your AI channel that big energy. Or try 🚢Battleship and 🃏War Card Game for competitive head-to-head games. The Ultimate Party Games bench has everything you need. It'll announce scores dramatically, tease the losers, and hype up the winners.

You can find all the game prompts in one place at a-gnt.com/search?q=games, and browse even more party ideas in our games collection.

The Only Rule

The only rule of AI game night: no Googling answers during trivia. We're on the honor system here, people.

Now go text your group chat. Tonight's the night.
