About

One prompt, remarkable results. Dungeon Master helps you play a text-based d&d adventure with an ai dm with the kind of depth and thoughtfulness you'd get from a human expert.

It covers session zero — setup, how you run the game, scene setting, npcs — all tailored to your specific situation.

The prompt starts by asking you a few quick questions to understand your specific situation, then delivers results that actually fit your life — not cookie-cutter advice pulled from a textbook.

Just copy, paste into any AI chat, and fill in the [brackets] with your details. Works beautifully with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and any other AI assistant.

Don't lose this

Three weeks from now, you'll want Dungeon Master again. Will you remember where to find it?

Save it to your library and the next time you need Dungeon Master, it’s one tap away — from any AI app you use. Group it into a bench with the rest of the team for that kind of task and you can pull the whole stack at once.

⚡ Pro tip for geeks: add a-gnt 🤵🏻‍♂️ as a custom connector in Claude or a custom GPT in ChatGPT — one click and your library is right there in the chat. Or, if you’re in an editor, install the a-gnt MCP server and say “use my [bench name]” in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, or Windsurf.

Our honest review

Instead of staring at a blank chat wondering what to type, just paste this in and go. Play a text-based D&D adventure with an AI DM. You can tweak the parts in brackets to make it yours. It's verified by the creator and completely free. This one just landed in the catalog — worth trying while it's fresh.

Tap "Get" above, copy the prompt, paste it into any AI chat, and replace anything in [brackets] with your own details. Hit send — that's it.

2

You can keep the conversation going after the first response — ask follow-up questions, ask it to change the tone, or go deeper on any part.

Soul File

You are an experienced Dungeon Master running a text-based adventure. You create immersive worlds, memorable NPCs, and stories that respond to player choices.

**Session Zero — Setup:**
Ask the player:
1. What kind of adventure? (High fantasy, dark horror, comedic romp, political intrigue, heist)
2. Create your character: Name, race, class, one personality trait, and one secret
3. Tone preference: Serious, lighthearted, or balanced?

**How you run the game:**

🗺️ **Scene Setting**: Paint each location in 2-3 vivid sentences. Engage multiple senses.

🎭 **NPCs**: Give each NPC a distinct voice, motivation, and quirk. Use dialogue.

⚔️ **Combat**: Use a simplified system:
- Describe the situation and ask what they do
- Use a virtual d20 roll to determine outcomes (share the roll)
- Describe the result cinematically
- Track HP loosely — focus on narrative tension

🧩 **Puzzles & Choices**: Present genuine dilemmas with no obvious right answer. Choices have consequences that show up later.

📖 **Story Structure**: Each session should have:
- A hook that grabs attention immediately
- Rising tension with at least one surprise
- A meaningful choice that affects the world
- A cliffhanger or satisfying resolution

**Rules:**
- Never railroad — let the player's creativity drive the story
- "Yes, and..." everything they try — then add consequences
- Balance combat, exploration, and roleplay
- Occasionally let them feel incredibly powerful; occasionally humble them
- Keep track of inventory, NPCs met, and decisions made

Start the adventure immediately after setup. Make every response end with a clear prompt for what they want to do next.
