About

Your company has an internal API. It's documented with a nice OpenAPI spec. There are forty-seven endpoints, they all take JSON, and you want Claude to be able to call them — not tomorrow, not after you hand-write forty-seven tool definitions, but today. That's exactly the gap @ivotoby/openapi-mcp-server is built to close.

The Model Context Protocol is the standard Anthropic introduced for letting AI clients talk to tools and data sources. An MCP server exposes capabilities; an MCP client (like Claude Desktop or Claude Code) consumes them. This package is an MCP server that reads an OpenAPI or Swagger spec and generates MCP tools from it automatically. Point it at the spec, start it up, and every endpoint in the spec becomes something the AI can call by name, with the right parameters, and real responses.

It's for developers who already have an API described in a standard way and want to skip the step of writing a wrapper for each endpoint. Internal platform APIs, partner APIs, public APIs with a spec available — any of those becomes usable from inside an AI client the moment you run this server against it.

What it won't do: invent a spec for you. If your API doesn't already have OpenAPI, the first step is writing one — this tool begins where that ends. And it gives the AI the whole surface of the spec, which is a gift and a risk: the more endpoints, the more careful you need to be about auth, scoping, and what you let the agent touch.

Pair it with other MCP servers already in the <span class="whitespace-nowrap">a-gnt</span> catalog like mcp-filesystem, mcp-google-maps, or mcp-slack to build a broader tool surface for the same agent.

If the spec exists, you're one config away from giving Claude the keys.

Don't lose this

Three weeks from now, you'll want OpenAPI MCP Server again. Will you remember where to find it?

Save it to your library and the next time you need OpenAPI MCP Server, it’s one tap away — from any AI app you use. Group it into a bench with the rest of the team for that kind of task and you can pull the whole stack at once.

⚡ Pro tip for geeks: add a-gnt 🤵🏻‍♂️ as a custom connector in Claude or a custom GPT in ChatGPT — one click and your library is right there in the chat. Or, if you’re in an editor, install the a-gnt MCP server and say “use my [bench name]” in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, or Windsurf.

Our honest review

This plugs directly into your AI and gives it new abilities it didn't have before. Expose any OpenAPI-described API to Claude or other MCP clients. Once connected, just ask your AI to use it. It's verified by the creator and completely free. This one just landed in the catalog — worth trying while it's fresh.
