About
Most AI coding assistants will happily explain what a WCAG violation is. Almost none of them will go look at your actual webpage and find one. The mcp-accessibility-scanner closes that gap. It's a small, focused MCP server by JustasMonkev that gives Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, and other compatible AI tools the ability to run a real axe-core accessibility audit on any URL — and return a structured list of violations the assistant can then help you fix.
Built on top of axe-core, the same engine that powers the Chrome devtools accessibility panel and most professional auditing tools, the scanner does exactly what its name suggests: you give your AI a URL, your AI calls the scanner, axe-core runs against the rendered page, and the response comes back as a clean list of violations with rule IDs, severity, affected nodes, and links to the rule documentation. Your AI then has everything it needs to walk through the issues with you, propose fixes, and tell you which problems are likely to matter most to real users.
The audience is developers and designers who want their AI assistant to stop hand-waving about accessibility. If you've ever asked Claude "is my page accessible?" and received a polite but useless general answer, this is the missing piece. With the scanner installed, the same question gets a real list of real problems on your real page, and the conversation that follows can actually fix them.
Made by JustasMonkev and published openly on GitHub. The a-gnt Community catalogs it because we think the gap between "AI knows about accessibility" and "AI can find your accessibility bugs" is one of the more important gaps in the current tooling, and this server is one of the cleanest ways to close it.
Pair with The Accessibility Auditor for the human-readable walkthrough, or WCAG Quick Audit for a structured pass over the results.
